One of my favorite quotes is from Apollo 13, which was a space mission plagued with insurmountable mechanical failures.  Yet, the crew never gave up, and persisted in rescuing themselves from death. The quote goes, “Failure is not an option.”  I have a T-shirt with this quote on it and it reminds me to never give up with my struggle with cancer.

Welcome Joseph, tell us a little bit about yourself
 and your family.

Macintosh HD:Users:joemarx:Desktop:IMG_0778.jpgMacintosh HD:Users:joemarx:Desktop:DSC00483 4.JPGI grew up in small towns in Wisconsin, with four brothers, and have fond memories of playing outside all day exploring the world. I got married right out of college, went into the Navy,
and raised four kids. I later became an engineer for a time, but didn't find my true passion in life until I went into teaching. I have always loved researching, learning new things, and communicating this information to others.

You have a very diverse background and seem to enjoy research, did this inspire you to write?

I was inspired to write my first book when I first discovered I had cancer. The more I researched, the more I discovered things that made me ask myself, "Are you kidding me, how come no one knows this?"

How long did it take you to write the book?
I spent over three years and three thousand hours of research.

What is one important fact you would like the reader to remember about your book?

If one understands the metabolic characteristics of cancer, which are not widely known, he or she can effectively slow it's rate of growth and potentially even reverse it, with smart nutrition.

 What is your favorite chapter?
Chapter 7, Eating your Cancer To Death. I believe this chapter alone can help a patient significantly improve their outcome.

Do you have plans for a sequel?
Volume 2 of this series will be done by May/June of 2017.  It will have all of the key information in it that Volume 1 has, except that Volume 2 will speak in great detail to Acid Reflux and it’s progression to Barrett’s, Dysplasia and then cancer, as well as discuss various treatment options, including how to cure Acid Reflux with diet alone.

What has been your best accomplishment?

Being at peace with every relationship in my life, especially all four
of my children, and keeping my marriage together for 35 years.
Secondly, making my next birthday each year.

I see you work hard at what is passionate with you, how about your hobbies?

I like to read and learn new things, exercise, go hiking, fishing or sailing, cook and international travel.

How do you find time to relax?
I relax by reading and exercising, and by spending time with my grand kids and family.

The book was amazing, all the things he learned about eating to help cure or hold back somewhat different problems. I think you and Joseph have the good eating habits in common!
